Looking into the vast open Aether of the Sphere.

AETHER CLOUDS are beginning to gather. We can see small islands of LANDS dotted here and there.

1. CAPTION/Sabre: “The Aether foams and storms, this is well known.
2. CAPTION/Sabre: “And most of those storms are harmless, the damage they wreak minor.

TWO:
Closer on the CLOUDS… or are the CLOUDS growing that much larger?

There’s a fury brewing.

3. CAPTION/Sabre: “But rarely, every century or so, the Great Storms come.
4. CAPTION/Sabre: “Storms that manifest in the deep skies…
5. CAPTION/Sabre: “…and grow…

THREE:
It’s magnificent and terrifying, now, the CLOUDS of MANIFEST AETHER, bolts of energy shooting and sheeting within, swirling towards us like a massive, churning wave.

FOUR:
We’re in it now.

8. CAPTION/Sabre: “…and grow hungry.

ONE:
We’re on the leading edge of some nameless, lost to memory Land. A MAN is at work on his home, here.

And in the distance, we can see the STORM coming in.

1. CAPTION/Sabre: “Where they make Land, brush their shores or strike head on…
2. CAPTION/Sabre: “…chaos.

TWO:
The MAN has looked up, seeing the STORM.

His FAMILY has rushed outside to see – WIFE and CHILD.

3. CAPTION/Sabre: “The land heaves, tears itself in twain, erupts in volcanic, liquid fire.
4. CAPTION/Sabre: “That which was fertile becomes barren, that which was desiccated blooms.
5. CAPTION/Sabre: “The famines that ravaged Fueille in the last century? The legacy of a Great Storm.

ONE:
Interior of Sabre’s cabin.

She was the only one really prepared for that.

DRAKE and DRUM have gone ass over tit.

TWO:
SABRE straightening up, brushing hair out of her face. DRAKE and DRUM are pulling themselves to their feet.

THREE:
DRAKE and DRUM staring at SABRE, who smiles brightly.

1. SABRE: Warned you.
2. SABRE: Terminus shock, we’re in open Aether now.

FOUR:
SABRE grinning, turning away from them, back to the map.

DRAKE is not nearly as amused by her as DRUM is, straightening himself.

3. DRAKE: Lot of blood spilled for a map.

ONE:
DRAKE and DRUM have returned to the table, where SABRE is again smoothing the MAP.

SABRE is looking at DRAKE, approving.

1. DRAKE: Not a treasure map. Some sort of chart?

2. SABRE: Very good, Marshal.

TWO:
Stet, but now SABRE is looking at the map and DRAKE is looking at her. He’s trying very hard not to be annoyed.

3. SABRE: Also, wrong.
4. SABRE: It is a treasure map, of a sort, at least.

THREE:
Now all three are looking at the map.

5. DRAKE: I don’t see it.

6. SABRE: Because it’s not a chart, nor merely a map of lands…

FOUR:
POV of the map, showing the current/pattern lines. CU on it, context within the map itself is less important here.

7. SABRE/above: …it’s a prediction of the weather….

ONE:
Exterior angle, of the Pegasus. We can see that the ship is just now approaching the edge of the Land beneath, where the landmass tapers, then ends, falling into nothingness.

A faint shimmer is forming around the prow of the ship.

CREW are literally racing to take position, some of them threading their arms through the shrouds, others coiling length of ropes about their arms – bracing, as said.

WESTFIELD is on the quarterdeck, bellowing orders.

1. WEST: —brace brace brace!

TWO:
The prow of the Pegasus, seeming to press against an invisible wall, the shimmer of Aether manifesting around the ship as it begins to break through.

THREE:
Longshot, the PEGASUS shoots out into the nothingness of the Aether, leaving a glowing nimbus in its wake.

2. SFX: KRAKOOOM

Screen 1

ONE:
SABRE has spread the map on the TABLE, her eyes bright, a grin on her face as she reads it. DRAKE and DRUM are exchanging looks over her.

1. SABRE/small: Ohh, brilliant.
2. SABRE/small: Ever-loving-brilliant.

TWO:
DRAKE and DRUM each stepping out of the way as SABRE suddenly springs between them, for the door.

3. SABRE: WEST!
4. SABRE: WESTFIELD THANE!

THREE:
At the door to the cabin. WEST is there. We might, correctly, assume that he’s been standing right there all this time.

5. WEST: Captain?

6. SABRE: Set course nor-nor’west, as much canvas as she’ll take.
7. SABRE: How long to the break?

FOUR:
WEST, grinning, SABRE grinning back.

8. WEST: On the bells, Captain.

9. SABRE: Joyous.

ONE:
Back in the cabin, DRAKE and DRUM are looking at the MAP on the table, as SABRE makes her way back to them.

1. DRAKE: I see nothing on this map worth dying for—

2. SFX: ding-ding
3. SFX: ding-ding
[[[more]]]

TWO:
DRAKE and DRUM looking up at the sound of the bell.

SABRE is moving to the TABLE briskly, preparing to brace herself and all that’s covering it.

4. SABRE: I’d grab ahold of something, boys.

5. TAILLESS/off: All hands—

Day Seven
Screen 1

ONE:
SABRE at the map table, she’s got the TUBE in one hand, is fitting the KEY into its end with the other.

DRAKE and DRUM are moving closer, curious.

1. SABRE: A proper fit…

2. SFX/small: klk

TWO:
Almost stet, but DRAKE and DRUM each take a step back as the TUBE pops open, a FLASH of AETHER manifesting as the spell-seal is broken.

3. SFX/small: swshhh

THREE:
SABRE tilts the contents of the tube into her hand.

It’s a rolled-up piece of PARCHMENT, secured with a WAX SEAL.

FOUR:
Close on the WAX SEAL, as SABRE breaks it with her fingernail.

The SEAL is a STARBURST, with a pair of EYES at its center.

ONE:
The parchment, from Sabre’s POV. Laid on the table, now.

It’s definitely a map of some sort, what looks, at first blush, to be mapping contours and perhaps currents.

Rick, we’ll need to discuss this in detail, probably best to do it over the phone.
