ONE:
Two-shot, FARROW and PAYNE. FARROW is considering, has again relaxed his aim.
PAYNE is getting bored.
NO COPY.
TWO:
PAYNE starts to move, but FARROW puts his aim back to him, stopping him.
1. PAYNE: If you don’t mind, Ethan, I’d like to get out of these wet clothes—
2. FARROW: You’ll not move.
THREE:
PAYNE, reasonable, appealing to FARROW.
3. PAYNE: Ethan, the matter is ended.
4. FARROW: But you had the map in hand, Darius, and you lost it.
5. FARROW: And now you shall report as much to the Smoke.
FOUR:
Two-shot, profiles, FARROW facing PAYNE.
The barrel of a GUN has entered panel, behind FARROW, pointing at the back of his head.
FARROW is reacting.
6. PAYNE: I shall reserve that pleasure for you, I think, Ethan.
7. SFX/off: chak
I see a small pistol there, a small pistol like THAT one 😉 http://www.ineffableaether.com/2011/08/01/ch01s07/
But maybe I’m mistaking, it doesn’t look EXACTLY like that one.
Payne is turning into Oliver Hardy
A definite “Uh-Oh” moment for someone.
I’m surprised The Smoke didn’t show up when the Pegasus was ablaze. Instead, we readers got fire but no Smoke.
Speaking of unhappy bosses, isn’t The Rose Her Ladyship’s boss? And is he/she the sort of person who will make Sabre’s life miserable when it’s revealed the map is destroyed?
If it actually is destroyed – the case was never opened to determine its contents, if any.
I got the idea that the Rose was a being on the same level as the Smoke but that the Rose was “Good” to the Smoke’s “Evil”.
Assuming that the map was destroyed (which may be a big assumption), the Rose may be more interested in the fact that the Smoke didn’t get it.
Even if the Rose isn’t that “Good”, the Rose might be satisfied with the Smoke not getting the map. [Smile]
