ONE:
PAYNE and SABRE facing each other, blades up. PAYNE is now getting…nervous. He’s trying to stall until Myron can take his shot.
1. PAYNE: M’lady, be reasonable, our time is running out!
TWO:
On the GENTLEMAN RIFLEMAN, high above, settling his aim.
2. PAYNE/below: Yield the map and we shall all live through this night!
THREE:
Past PAYNE, to SABRE. If she knows Myron’s got the shot, it doesn’t show.
3. SABRE: Perhaps I put less value on my life than you think, Mister Payne.
4. PAYNE: Then you shall not mind being outplayed.
FOUR:
On PAYNE. Smug.
5. PAYNE: My sharpshooter has his aim upon you even now, Lady Sabre.
6. PAYNE: Farewell.
FOUR:
SABRE, stet as before, no reaction.
7. SFX: KRAK
OK, I’m going to make a prediction here… that the rifle ‘krak’ does indeed involve the “Gentleman Rifleman” but I don’t think it involved his rifle. 😉
Naaah, from tomorrow the comic is just going to be re-titled “Mister Payne & The Pirates of the Ineffable Aether”… 😉
I feel like Her Ladyship has a “Bitch please’ coming on.
Umm.. One of the first rules of being an evil overlord, I mean henchman, is that you don’t drop your guard until your enemy is actually dead. Payne is gloatin’ and that never ends well for the gloater.

quidni — I wouldn’t take any odds against that prediction.
As I wrote about Lady Sabre in my most recent blog post Single Sentence Scrutiny: The plot is intriguing.
And I have to add: That’s true both in the grand scale of things, and in the finer details.
I’d say odds are great that the “krak” comes from our favorite man with a rifle, Tracker Drum. Would be nice to have him and Drake back in the panels.
Hard to wait until Monday to find out!
Looking back at SFX in prior strips, the “krak” sound most often comes from Miles Drake’s pistols, and “blam” seems to be the signature of Drum’s rifle. So, I will be most anxious to see what the outcome is on Monday.
I was expecting expecting two shots.
Her Ladyship has massive cajones.
Farewell indeed. Yep, I foresee Mr Payne having to radically reassess his situation in a MAJOR hurry.
I’m now wondering just how many levels of deception there are here. Given that her ship is on fire and (supposedly) about to blow up, Sabre seems remarkably unaffected by that. Does she have a SPARE ship hidden away somewhere?
I’m hoping a certain crewmember whose heart was stolen by Drum was the person responsible for the “krak” sound.
