ONE:
PAYNE races along below decks, running for the stairs/ladder. FLAMES are spreading behind him. The MAP CASE is in one hand, his SWORD in the other.
NO COPY.
TWO:
FLAMES roaring, devouring the captain’s cabin, and behind the wall of flames, SABRE, helping a wounded and frightened BARCLAY to his feet. BARCLAY is wounded. SABRE is yanking her sword free from where she stuck it in the deck with her other hand.
We can see the SHATTERED GALLERY WINDOW behind her.
NO COPY.
THREE:
On SABRE, her expression. Jaw clenched. Fury in her eyes. The FLAMES around her. She is both in her element and of it.
NO COPY.
Love the final panel there.
Almost looks like Barclay is reaching for her sword in panel 2, but of course that would be very, very foolish. So nice to have the text, and once again the artistic detail is amazing!
I feel like she has to have planned for something like this outcome, because I can’t imagine she’d have otherwise set things up in this way (sending everyone else off while she waits alone on the ship). But I can’t picture the endgame. I suppose it’s possible the map case is a fake and all this is to sell it to Payne, but man. That’s a hell of a price.
Yes, it is. More literally, I suspect, than the phrase usually suggests.
0k, cliffhanger time.Scene shifts to shore where Drake and Drum are dealing with Farrow and thugs.
