Screen 1
ONE:
Looking at CAPTAIN the FIRST, HANS VON KATER, his own GLASS to his eye as he stands amid the bridge of the Iron Crown.
1. CAPTION/Sabre: “…I want to know what they’re doing.”
2. XO: <They’re turning.>
TWO:
HANS lowers the glass, collapsing it. The XO is standing beside him, ramrod straight in his uniform.
3. HANS: <She means to run.>
4. HANS: <We’ll need to slow her down…>
THREE:
Wider of the IRON CROWN BRIDGE. We can see that it’s a bi-level space, here, with the BRIDGE CREW at their various stations, monitoring pressure and power gauges on various consoles, brass handles and dials.
The HOLLERN HELMSMAN stands at the WHEEL, a series of LEVERS beside him.
HANS stands on the upper platform, now with his hands behind his back.
The XO, beside him, is relaying orders, pulling a SPEAKING TUBE from one of the consoles.
5. HANS: <Steady as she goes>
6. HANS: <Launch the first flight.>
7. XO: <Steady as she goes!>
FOUR:
The XO shouting into the TUBE, now held at his lips.
8. XO: <First flight! Launch at ready!>

The color scheme, the Third-Reich-esque insignia, the evil pencil-thin mustache: I’m loving it!
HANS! I was hoping it would be him!
Reminds of the Eastern Alliance from the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica = good!
The enlisted men have naval look to them but the officers look like they should be commanding a infantry platoon.Their headgear definitely gives them a imperial German vibe.
She’s turning… Wouldn’t the Pegasus be preping the broadside guns? Or is the Pegasus not armed in the traditional sense?
It could be turning to bring her guns to bear or just settling on a course to make her best speed. A stern chase is a long chase. It doesn’t sound like the Iron Crown is the fastest…metal shod zeppelin in the sky. It probably accelerates as if it were made of lead. *cough*
Since Lady Sabre didn’t say anything about manning or running out the guns, I assume she’s running. I would also suspect that the Iron Crow has significant advantages in crew size, armor, and weapons so that the Pegasus doesn’t really want to fight the Iron Crown at all. But the Iron Crown probably handles like a pig and accelerates like cold molasses.
That joke has me dazed and confused, Yuri.
Pegasus is gunned, and cannon will be run out, but the distance intended between the two vessels is such that Iron Crown is currently out of range. This was an artistic choice – to depict the extreme range that Iron Crown was spotted would’ve been a screen with two VERY small ships, so small that there was no point in depicting it at all, perhaps.
To put it another way, they’re farther apart than they look
Star Trek Ship-to-Ship Combat Depiction Syndrome in play, then?
An above-ground submarine. What next, what next?
I can practically hear them shouting “Schnell! Schnell!” down in the launch bay
I cannot handle how ridiculous his mustache is.
(In a good way)
Yeah I imagine them talking german
I’m going to give Lady S. a little more credit and say running is probably a clever ruse. The Pegasus probably has more up it’s sleeve than first appears…
If you are recognizable and have a reputation a trick is only usable once. Unless you leave no survivors. I would expect Hans to be well aware of possible actions, just as they were able to recognize the Iron Crown.
“Beware of Lady S. the Pegasus can do __________”
True, but this could be the first time Hans has encountered the Pegasus. If not, Lady S. could have made some modifications since last time. She’s an unpredictable lass.
And it also applies to the Iron Crown. The “First Flight” should not be a surprise. If the ship is known its most striking features would be known.
Cool! I discovered some sort of formatting code that triggers italics and apparently deletes what’s between quote marks. It’s too bad I don’t know what that was.
Let’s try that again:
Given what the XO said, Hans needed to respond: “I can see that, you fool!”
Less than and greater than signs are the basic definers of HTML, so WordPress is just protecting us from your being able to upset the rest of the site by inserting code into the comments.
You can still use them though. You just have to spell out the HTML entities. < and >, I think.
Oh, and silly me. To be able to spell out the HTML entities, I have to use the HTML entity for ampersand. What a complex world wide web we’ve woven:
< and > should get the job done.
I’m a complete failure tonight, apparently. Refer to this page!: http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_entities.asp
Oh God! I’m a newcomer to this web comic and I’ve just read the entire archive in two hours. How the hell am I supposed to wait for a page twice a week?
