Screen 1
ONE:
New angle, SABRE is moving away, to the BENCH beneath the aft galley windows.
DRAKE standing as before.
1. SABRE: You’re Fueille, aren’t you?
2. DRAKE: My parents settled from Charet Petit, yes.
TWO:
On DRAKE.
3. DRAKE: Myself, I am a Tanitin man.
4. DRAKE: That is where my allegiance lies.
THREE:
New angle. SABRE is lounging on the bench, looking at DRAKE.
5. DRAKE: You don’t trust me?
6. SABRE: I’d be something of a fool to give that which you won’t grant in return, Marshal.
7. DRAKE: You’re a pirate.
FOUR:
On SABRE, slight smile.
8. SABRE: To some.
Screen 2
ONE:
SABRE leans forward, speaking more honestly.
DRAKE as before.
1. SABRE: You want Darius Payne for his crimes.
2. DRAKE: I do.
TWO:
New angle, DRAKE more thoughtfully considering SABRE.
3. DRAKE: What is it you want?
4. SABRE: We are both bound by duty, Marshal.
THREE:
Closer two-shot, SABRE and DRAKE.
5. DRAKE: A pirate’s duty is to herself.
6. SABRE: Could you not say that of all men?
FOUR:
On DRAKE.
He knows very well what he’s saying.
7. DRAKE: Only those without honor.

Thing is, there’s more than one kind of honor; just because I’m not honorable to you, doesn’t mean I don’t have honor. But honor talk aside, we got somebody who skirts the Law, and somebody who follows the Law itself rather than those who write it. Chaotic Good and Lawful Good, so to speak. Everyone’s a good guy, but differances in opinions lead to conflicts within the ranks.
Very nice touch with the back of Drake’s collar.
Sabre looks so pensive in TWO, like she has given up something very valuable for duty. No mention of that in the script though… Am I seeing something that isn’t there?
You’re seeing something that isn’t in the script. Doesn’t mean it’s not there

A fair course of action, that.
“I’m a pirate to some” “To whom?” “To whoever I happen to be robbing at the moment!”
Well, technically she’s a privateer, with the Letter of Marque and Reprisal and everything. Which pretty much makes her the same thing as a pirate, only with a narrower list of targets.
That is some fantastic dialogue and character work right there, guys! That dialogue, especially the final tier, is so full of undercurrents and subtleties that I’d love to have seen some more reactions in that exchange. Maybe especially between the fourth- and third-to-last panels, and the third last and penultimate panel. Not meant as a slight on what you’re already doing, it’s just that it’s so good I want to see more, more of how they react and move in relation to each other.
I really like this scene. Very nice art, staging, and dialogue. It put a smile on my face.
Great job as always, but in panel 5 Sabre’s crossed legs look kind of weird to me. Maybe the right one is anatomically wrong?
