Screen 1
ONE:
DRUM, along the rooftop, jumping to another building.
NO COPY.
TWO:
DRUM now landing on street-level beside DRAKE, who is waiting for him. DRAKE is looking grim. Very few people around, now. Almost sunset.
1. DRAKE: Which way?
2. DRUM: Toward Lake Genevieve.
3. DRUM: He’s on to us.
THREE:
DRAKE resolutely setting off, DRUM in step with him.
4. DRAKE: Bully for him.
FOUR:
DRAKE and DRUM rounding a corner.
5. DRAKE: I intend to get answers one way—
Screen 2
ONE:
Behind DRAKE and DRUM, as they’ve rounded the corner into a shipping lot. CRATES of various shapes and sizes here, as well as some pieces of INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT, including what appears to be a BULKY STEAM ENGINE with various HOSES coming off it.
They’re facing SIX MEN, including PAYNE, who stands at the center of the group. All but PAYNE are ARMED, with PISTOLS and/or LONG GUNS of various makes and sizes. Payne himself looks oddly out of place amidst them, far too refined to be associating with men of such obviously “low character.”
1. DRAKE: —or another….
Damn.
LOVE Payne’s expression.
I feel no need to be reserved in my excitement: AWWWWWWW YEAH!
This team of goons looks slightly more skilled than the last lot Drake and Drum took apart. The background in the last panel is beautifully drawn.
Also, bully!
It’s League of Ornery Mustaches!
Ornery Mustaches! ROFL!
Trying to figure which one goes down first. Maybe “Spats”…Maybe “Frenchy” on the far left…How about the “Walrus” on far right? The guys on either end look the most ready to fire.
Spats goes first, he made the amature mistake of making himself rather immobile by putting his foot up. He is a good stationary target to shoot for while ducking into cover.
I think Muzzle buys it first, a smug attitude doesn’t make a great weapon in a fight.
Neither does a two-shot weapon.
Payne should have a walking stick doncha think?
Payne has something much more effective than a stick. Stay tuned.
Whoops, he brought more than two!
With Payne, I am less worried (though worried) about the guys he’s showing Drake and Drum, and more worried about what (and who) we are not seeing.
Hmmm, we’re at the docks. Could a certain ship of our acquaintance be anywhere nearby (and not in Payne’s calculation)?
Can’t wait to find out.
Wow! Now that’s what I call a cliffhanger. Well done!
I love that each and every one of the goons is an individual. My word, you could write a compelling biography of each of them.
OMG! You named a lake after me (my real name, of course)!!! AWW YAAAAAAYYYYY =D
Truly? Then you are blessed with a beautiful name, in my humble opinion.
Your comic was favorably mentioned in Steampunk Magazine #8, which brought me to your site. I found a great storyline and very well-done, detailed art. You’ve got another reader.
Delighted to hear it! Hope you’ll continue to enjoy our offering(s)!
