Screen 1
    ONE:

Interior of the shack, the first room. It’s bigger than the second, which we’ll see in just a moment. A lot of FUEILLE TRAPPINGS in here, empire in decay. A STRANGE MACHINE bubbles and burps STEAM and SMOKE, adding to the mysterious air.

SABRE and WESTFIELD are entering.

NO COPY.

    TWO:

SABRE and WESTFIELD, reacting to the voice of KAYA, off.

1. KAYA/off: Her Ladyship may enter.
2. KAYA/off: The Vaun may not.

    THREE:

Angle, SABRE pushes through the CURTAIN into the back room. WESTFIELD looks grumpy about not going with her.

A CLOUD of faintly glowing SMOKE escapes from the back room as SABRE enters.

3. WESTFIELD: I’ll just be waiting here, then, shall I?

4. SABRE: So it seems.

    Screen 2
    ONE:

Angle, past KAYA, as SABRE enters the back room. It’s much darker in here, illumination from wisps of AETHER SMOKE that float up and cloud the ceiling.

SABRE’S manner is much as ever, a cocky, self-confident grin.

1. KAYA: Your coming has been foretold, Lady
Sabre.

2. SABRE: Pish, it has not

    TWO:

Close on SABRE, the gleam in her eye. Amused.

3. SABRE: …you saw the ship in the harbor, Kaya
Saigneé.

    Screen 3
    ONE:

On KAYA, seated behind a low table, with what looks to be an inverted hookah-like pipe, augmented with valves and vacuum tubes, a large glass SPHERE atop it. Manifest Aether swirls inside the sphere. Kaya is rather lovely, roughly Sabre’s age, perhaps younger, but very frail-looking, very pale. Black, black hair. She wears finery befitting royalty, but it’s seen better days. Whether she’s Fueille nobility or not, she certainly affects the airs of it, even if she’s come on hard times.

Her eyes are closed as she tugs on the end of the pipe between her lips.

NO COPY.

    TWO:

Stet previous, eyes still closed, as KAYA exhales a cloud of SMOKE, glowing more brightly as it leaves her lips and nose.

NO COPY.

    THREE:

Stet previous, KAYA has opened her eyes. They’re milky-white, cataract occluded. She’s blind as a bat.

1. KAYA: Not with these eyes, Allyrian.
