DAY 13
SCREEN 1
ONE:
The LAST GUNMAN is using his chin to indicate Johns, off.
1. GUNMAN: You, Earthwalker!
2. GUNMAN: That Elmer Johns has a KEY on him.
TWO:
On JOHNS, dead on the ground
We can see, looking down at him from this angle, that he’s wearing a CHAIN around his neck, a KEY visible on it.
2. GUNMAN/off: You give that here, understand?
THREE:
DRAKE speaking to Crease, off, while facing the GUNMAN.
The GUNMAN is irate, still holding his HOSTAGE.
3. DRAKE: Leave it, Drum.
4. GUNMAN: You’re playing with this here LIFE, Lawman!
FOUR:
On DRAKE. Pure Sergio Leone.
1. DRAKE: You’re playing with yours, son.
Wow, maybe I’m just a sucker for close up shots of subtle emotion, but this is the best page yet! Just perfect!
I agree. Rick continues to kill with the expressions, especially panels 2 and 5.
Does Rick also do the lettering?
Actually, James, the computer does the lettering. I just poke the keys.
Rick’s art is so expressive. Storywise, I’m beginning to exprience Sabre withdrawls, hope she shows up soon.
Not to worry, Erica. Her Ladyship returns in chapter 3.
This Chapter ends on Monday – Hallowe’en! – if I’m not mistaken. Which would make next Thursday an ‘off’ day, and then Chapter Three – with her Ladyship’s return, beginning the following Monday.
You can make it!
Have you guys been passing notes back and forth about Drakes gun set up and handedness? In 2.03 we see Drake as a gun in front of his belt set up for a right-handed draw. In 2.08, take by surprise Drake pulls this gun right handed–and does some shooting of bad guys right handed. In 2.10-2.11 Drake’s switched hands and is shooting lefty (including fanning the hammer for 3 lighting fast kills in 2.11a (a great panel)).
Today we see he drops the gun lefty and has a second gun set up for a righty draw. Does he have any guns set up for his left hand?
Is he really that awesomely dangerous with a gun in either hand?
Hi, folks. It seems an explanation is due regarding Drakes weaponry. They can’t be seen because of his coat, but Drake normally carries two revolvers. One is in a holster on his right hip. The other is in a cross draw holster, butt forward, on his left. That way he can draw either gun with his right hand and his adversary won’t know which gun he’ll go for giving him a split second advantage. Also, he’s ambidextrous, though his right hand is dominant. In this case, the Marshal switched his revolver to his left hand when he made his run into the street in case he needed the right gun as a back-up. Looks like he was right.
Just caught up on part 2.
You guys are killing it!
Rick tremendous job man! Talk about building a world. The visuals are amazing.
I love the smirk on Drum’s face. “I am looking at a dead man.”
