An adventure begins. It begins, of course, for our lovely lady privateer, but also for the people who have taken it upon themselves to chronicle her exploits.
Next year marks my 30th year working in comics. As you probably know, if you stay in any job for that length of time at some point you will be marginalized, nudged aside to make room for someone younger, flashier, someone who is perceived to be more in tune with the customer.
But, what if you believe you still have something to offer, that you’ve never really been give an opportunity to show what you’re capable of, what if, darn it, you’re just not finished yet?
The work stops coming in. You have a decision to make. You can take your skills to an allied field and make a lateral move. You can learn a new trade and try your hand at another line of work. Or, maybe accept that lucrative offer to become the greeter at the local Wal-Mart.
But, what if you and a friend (who just happens to be one of the best writers in the history of comics) decide to embark on an adventure? What if you set out to create a new comic, working in a genre you’ve never worked in before? What if you embrace new technology and teach yourself to letter and color your work? What if you intend to present the new idea on this digital wonderland that has become such a part of our daily lives ? And what if your friend knows someone who is a brilliant designer and has enough technical savvy to make this all happen?
Join us on this adventure and invite your friends. I promise you two things: (1) we’ll be here twice a week, every week, and (2) we’ll have fun. Remember, every adventure begins with two words:
What if…
Until next time
Rick

Great start so far, Rick. I very much look forward to the journey you and Greg will take us on!!
All the best Rick! I first discovered you on the Batman Animated books and have been a fan ever since! Welcome to the awesome world of webcomics! I plugged Lady Sabre on the next episode of Comics Coast 2 Coast (which should post early next week)! I’m so looking forward to following this amazing-looking comic! Bravo good sir(s)!
Well, I’ll be here everytime
Rick:
I’ve been a fan for pretty much all of those 30 years (I have especially fond memories of the Impact! Black Hood and the Action Comics Blackhawks stuff), and I am thrilled to see you embark on this particular ride.
Best,
-Eric T.
I’d follow you (or at least your artwork) to the ends of the earth.
It makes me terribly sad that you should have to write that, Rick. You draw perfect comics. The upside is that you are moving forward and Lady Sabre is off to a fantastic start. I’ll be along for the ride.
Rick, I’ve been a fan of yours since E-Man at First Comics. While it’s a shame that the comics industry doesn’t currently appreciate your art the way it should, I’m glad you and Greg have taken this opportunity to create and publish something you can completely own and control. I’d much rather read two pages of this a week than 22 pages of, say, Spider-Man by you two.
